WATSONS Crowns Malaysia 1st Top Social Influencer



Since its exclusive launch on 27 September 2018, Watsons’ first innovative social media star search has attracted more than 500 aspiring social influencers’ participation. The top 3 outstanding finalists were set to compete against each other at the finale and Fasiha Latiff emerged as Malaysia Top Social Influencer with 12-month exclusive contract as Watsons official Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and won fabulous prizes. Joining Fasiha were Daniel Cheang bin Adenan Cheang, first runner up and Eva Natasha binti Zaidi, second runner up. 


Fasiha Latiff, 25 commented, “It was still surreal for me to become Malaysia’s first Top Social Influencer, presented by Watsons. Reason being, it was a highly competitive contest especially from Daniel and Eva. Both of them are very talented and they gave their most outstanding performances. I would like to say a special thanks to Watsons and also to my supporters for voting me as Top Social Influencer.”

From beauty to lifestyle and health categories, the campaign had also seen through a diversity of backgrounds among these aspiring social influencers. Behind the scene, the contestants are real-life and talented make-up artists, established lifestyle bloggers, entrepreneurs and even play host to local TV and radio shows too.


Caryn Loh, Managing Director of Watsons Malaysia shared, “We have a wealth of talents and creative minds emerge throughout the search of Top Social Influencer. These aspiring contestants have demonstrated high level of creativity, enthusiasm and charisma in every challenge.”

Throughout the digital contest, all participants are personally mentored and judged by Malaysia’s prolific social influencer, Scha Alyahya. The challenges required all contestants to be creative and individualistic in their storytelling and presentation skills. This included recording tutorial videos and writing engaging captions with Watsons participating products and events. Some of the postings challenges such as unboxing and reviewing Watsons product, self-hosting live to engage with followers on Watsons exclusive promotions as well as simply uploading the best selfie, are key judging criteria for Watsons. 

The panel judges during the finale were Scha Alyahya, the official mentor and one of the most influential fashion icons joined by Nora Danish, Malaysia’s most prominent social celebrity and Rubini Sambanthan, Malaysian only representative in Asia Next Top Model 6 and titleholder for Miss International Malaysia.


Apart from the winning grand prizes, Caryn and Danny also presented three special awards in the category of Most Photogenic, Most Creative and Most Charismatic to the outstanding social influencers. 

The grand prize winner for Watsons presents Malaysia’s Top Influencer is RM10,000 cash, RM20,000 worth of Watsons points, RM10,000 worth of products from Watsons, The official Watsons Key Opinion Leader for a year, inclusive of appearance in a national Watsons television commercial, and also in Watsons billboards nationwide and Video appearances on digital portals such as Oh Bulan.
