WATSONS Presented Face Of Youth (FOY) 2014 Grand Finals



The journey to transform youths in this year’s Face of Youth (FOY) 2014 campaign has come to an end today. In this past 8 years, Asia’s leading health and beauty retail brand has reached out to young Malaysian adults, visiting nationwide campuses and discovering young Youth Brand Ambassadors to highlight leaders among the youth.

As the young Malaysians generation are getting more exposed and knowledgeable, the annual exercise to reach out to these young Malaysian adults is set to take the next stage to promote a positive outcome from the experts of readily available trustworthy market brands. According to Youth Factor 2012 Survey of Malaysian Youth Opinion, youth constitutes a large segment, 43 percent of the total population in Malaysia. Young Malaysians will undoubtedly continue to be a determining factor in Malaysia’s endeavour to achieve developed nation status underpinned by innovation-led leaders.


This year, Face of Youth 2014 campaign attracted more than 400 young Malaysian youths between age 18 – 25 to provide a platform to groom their appearance and wellness. This campaign is targeted to be one of the largest peers chosen Youth Ambassador Discovery search; with recruitment covering 30 universities on ground, digital and mobile media platforms.

Throughout the campaign, series of events began in September with auditions in major universities, whereby at the end only 18 finalists was selected to be in a running to become the Face of Youth (FOY) 2014. They faced a total of six (6) complete challenges and throughout these challenges, participants developed and enhance their leadership skills, time management, teamwork and produce effective presentation which will be useful in preparing them for the future.


Apart from this, this year is the first that we added a FOY Reality Show comprises of SIX (6) episodes which produced by Homegrown Productions and telecast over EC Inspirasi (multi language youth channel on 111) in Hypp TV, seen by over 3.2millions viewership which will be shown on a later date. 

“We have seen great improvements in our finalists whereby we see them grow through each challenge they are assigned to. Being the leader in the industry, we take the steps to guide and assist them and show them how to bring out the best in themselves every day”, according to Danny Hoh, Watsons Malaysia Marketing Controller during the Grand Finals. 

Hoh added “We want this to be a lifetime changing experience for the participants. Not only have they needed to be prepared physically but mentally as well as some of their tasks are to share this experience with other youth their age (peers).” The grand finals at Orange Concourse, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall was also attended by Caryn Loh, General Manager – Trading of Watsons Malaysia and participating partners.


During the Finals, some of the highlights were special performances by finalists, performances by popular Warner Music artistes and crowning of the subsidiary titles and Grand Winners. A total of thirteen (13) subsidiaries titles were awarded to finalists and they each walked home with participating partners’ prizes. The subsidiary titles winners are:

2.            Ms. Lip Style by LipIce - (Winner Female – Ili Ruzana Iqbal)
3.            Ms. Dream Girl by L'Oreal - (Winner Female – Michelle Yap Weng Yan)
4.            Ms. Model Look by Maybelline - (Winner Female - Amallina Binti Latfi Amir)
5.            Ms. Energetic by Nivea - (Winner Female -Siti Amira BR Amang )
6.            Ms. Gorgeous Hair by Sunsilk - (Winner Female -Tan Wan May )
7.            Mr. Charming by Garnier Men - (Winner Male - Ryan Tan Jzu Earn)
8.            Mr. Model Look by Gatsby - (Winner Male - Cody Foo Jia-Hou)
9.            Mr. Masculine by Horleys - (Winner Male -Choo Jian Tatt)
10.        Mr. Charismatic by Watsons (D'Tox Tea) - (Winner Male -Vincent Low Tze Shiang )
11.        Mr. Healthy by Watsons (Naturals) - (Winner Male -Nikhil Theva Raj )
12.        Mr. Energetic by Watsons (Vitamin C) - (Winner Male– Lester Yee Fook Kit - )
13.        FB Fans Choice by Watsons - (Winner Male - Lester Yee Fook Kit)
14.        Best Talents – (Winner Male – Cody Foo Jia-Hou)
15.        Best Talents – (Winner Female – Tey Theresa)


It was a remarkable evening as (Grand Winner Male – Ryan Tan Jzu Earn) & (Grand Winner Female – Jelita Chai Shing Yin) was crowned Face Of Youth 2014 Grand Winner Male & Female Category. Both of them walked home with prizes up to RM30,000.
